Hi, my name is Peter Townsend and I started playing the Piano when I was 7 years old. My parents had a lovely Bechstein 'upright grand piano', on which I had the pleasure of learning to play. I played the piano because I enjoyed it, and music eventually became my career. I studied Education and Music at Bath Spa University, and continued there to complete my Secondary Music PGCE. I have had 9 years of classroom teaching experience where I have taught Music as well as other subjects including Religious Studies, ICT, PE and Geography. |
Teaching
I teach piano lessons both in person and online (over Zoom). I work from my front room where I use my piano and a second digital piano so lessons can be socially distanced when needed. Lessons take place with the doors open so parents and carers can hear the lesson, and look in if they want to as well. We have a comfy back room within earshot of the front room where parents and carers can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee during lessons. My Interests My wife and I are very involved in the church we attend. We love singing, and whenever a group of our friends are at our house we love to sing around the piano (when the restrictions allow us to). I have recently discovered the joy of cooking, and like to experiment with new and exciting recipes. My wife (and often any visitors) are not so excited at this prospect! I love playing outside with my children, and we all love a good ramble through a field or forest together. |
